The Role of Male and Female Nurses in Improving Patient Care and Health Care
Male and Female Nurses have been playing a crucial role in the healthcare industry, particularly in areas of patient care. They are on the front line every day, looking after the sick, giving patients’ advice they need on their health, and refining processes all over the health care system. Today, nursing services are expanding into healthcare management and redesign. It also plays an important role in educating patients about their condition. The role of nurses has broadened even more since it has been recognized by the health care system that patient education is important for not only the recovery of the patient but also reduces expensive re-admissions to the hospital.
Nurses are required to follow up with patients to provide greater resources to the ones with chronic conditions like heart disease or diabetes. They help patients monitor their condition and play a role beyond the hospital. This is especially particular for nurses who work in nursing homes. These are the residential care units that provide nursing care to the elderly around the clock. They have female nurses as well as male nurses. Some common nursing home services include:
- Monitoring medication
- 24-hour emergency care
- Recreational and social activities
- Room and board
- Personal care (clothing, bathing, and toilet assistance)
- Laundry service
- Required therapy (speech, occupational, or physical)
- Dental services
- Mental Health Services
- Special dietary needs
Nursing homes should have a trained home nursing facility that deals with a large number of patients with different needs. These include male nurses and female nurses that are specialized and experienced in their specific type of care including a wide range of resources that may be required for the job. For example, transportation of a patient to any dialysis clinic is possible but a clinic that has dialysis equipment on-site will be the preferred choice of the majority. This is because it will provide the best treatment possible. Similarly, a home nursing facility that has a number of experienced male and female nurses on its staff will provide better results for patients requiring rehabilitation.
The Contribution of Higher Education in Expanding Roles
The role of the nurses is broadening because of the increased professional development of nurses as well as a large number of nurses going for higher education. The training they have on improved performance techniques along with their critical thinking skills enable the nurses to formulate better procedures for nursing home services.
A huge role is played by nurses in illness prevention and health promotion. They are assumed to be the ambassadors of wellness. They are playing an important part in caring for the well just as they are for the sick. Their role in caring for the sick is considered more important. This is because, in the present age of budget cuts, staffing shortages, and cost reduction, health promotion becomes crucial. Successful preservation of health reduces the number of times a person requires to enter the health care system and therefore reduces the cost.
We have both male and female nurses to take care of patients and the elderly at their homes in Lahore and Islamabad. We provide in-house training to our staff and we have junior nurses as well as senior nurses with more than 3 to 4 years of experience in the industry.
